Candles are a great way to create that sense of warmth and ambiance in your home. We've created this guide to help on the different ways you can style them around your home.
Candles and lanterns are versatile home accessories that can be styled in many different places around your home offering warmth, a beautiful fragrance and a cosy feeling. Candle holders and lanterns come in a range of styles and sizes to suit your space and colour scheme.
Here's our 5 favourite ways to style candles around the home.
#1 - On a console table
A console table is a great place for your favourite candles or lanterns and you can have a lot of fun playing with different layouts. Candlesticks are a beautiful option for a console table as they offer height and if placed at the opposite end to a lamp or vase, they can balance the console table. We recommend styling candlesticks as a pair, using one small and one large to create different heights and silhouettes to spark intrigue. You can use similar textures if you have a particular style, or you can play around with different textures.
#2 - On a coffee table
A coffee table can often be the focal point of a living room or sitting area, so styling can be important here. Creating a vignette using a small group of objects, including candles, can be the a great way to style your favourite accessories. You can frame your objects using a tray, which focuses the attention on one part of the table. Placing your candle holder on a stack of books is also a great way to add height to your coffee table.
#3 - On a shelving unit
Shelving units are a perfect place to showcase your favourite decorative accessories, but getting the right balance can be tricky and take a bit of trial and error to get the look just right. We love pairing lanterns and using LED candles (for safety). On a shelving unit, think about the other accessories you are styling around it, experiment with colour, contrast, height and textures. You can use the silhouettes of your candles to spark interest - think about styling a square candle holders alongside more rounded decorative accessories or vice versa.
#4 - On a dining table
Styling candles on a dining table is a great way to create that warm ambiance when eating a meal or entertaining guests. For the perfect table scape, we recommend using candles that are varying in height - try using candlesticks down the middle of the table and scatter different style votives to bounce the light across the table.
#5 - On a fireplace
Candle holders and lanterns work so well on and around a fireplace. Tall candlesticks work really well on the hearth either side of the fireplace to give symmetry. Hurricanes or votives also look beautiful on the mantelpiece. Lanterns can really add to the cosiness of a room when placed to one side of the fireplace.
