As I sit down to reflect on the past two years, it feels surreal to think about how much has changed since I first launched Nuco Home. What began as a dream has now grown into a brand that has become part of homes across the UK.
The inspiration behind Nuco Home came from a pivotal moment in my life. After becoming a mum and soon after being made redundant from my corporate job, I found myself at a crossroads. I had spent years working across various industries - from retail to engineering - in roles that ranged from IT to planning. But in the midst of change, I asked myself, what do I really want to do?
It wasn’t a hard question to answer. Over the years, family and friends had always commented on how much they loved the style of my home, asking for tips and advice on how they could achieve the same look. I realised that I had a passion for creating beautiful spaces, and with the range of skills I had gathered from my professional career, I decided it was time to turn my long-held dream of owning my own business into a reality.
One of the guiding principles behind Nuco Home has always been to make styling your home as easy as possible. That’s why I focus on creating ready-made bundles that take the guesswork out of home styling - making beautiful living made simple. I want our customers to feel confident when they decorate, knowing they can create a cohesive and stylish space with ease.
To deepen my knowledge, I’ve been studying for my diploma in interior design. But my love for learning goes far beyond the diploma. I’m constantly absorbing new ideas, whether it’s from business podcasts, audiobooks, or learning from other entrepreneurs and business leaders. I’ve always been a bookworm, so you’ll often find me reading both a fiction and non-fiction book at the same time! The journey with Nuco has already taught me so much about e-commerce in these first two years, and I’m hungry to keep learning, growing, and applying new ideas to help the business thrive.
Running Nuco has been a journey full of challenges and rewards. One of the biggest challenges, like many small business owners face, is managing the sheer variety of tasks that come with running a business. My weeks are packed with everything from engaging with customers, managing the website, content creation, data analytics, planning new collections and product replenishment. On top of that, there’s time spent in the warehouse, packing orders, putting deliveries away, managing stock, and of course, handling the accounts. Prioritising what’s most important is a constant juggling act!
But despite the hard work, the rewards far outweigh the challenges. That excited feeling I get in my tummy when an order comes through never fades, even after two years. There’s something special about helping customers with their styling queries or designing bespoke floral arrangements for them. Our Florence bouquet & vase bundle has become a bestseller, and I’m constantly trying to keep it in stock - something I never imagined would happen when I first started!
While I naturally consider myself an introvert, the past 12 months have pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. I’ve started putting myself in front of the camera more, sharing my story and connecting with the Nuco community. It’s been nerve-wracking at times, but the support and response from our followers have been amazing. I’ve learned that people love seeing the face behind the brand, and it’s given me the confidence to keep doing it.
One of my favorite aspects of running Nuco is sourcing products and curating collections. This is where I can be my most creative, pulling together different pieces to create something that I hope will inspire others. I always get nervous before launching a new collection, hoping it will be well-received, but when it all comes together, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the vision come to life.
Looking forward, I’m excited about what the next 12 months will bring. My goal is to expand Nuco’s offerings to include furniture, lighting, artwork, and soft furnishings - elements that will allow us to offer even more complete home styling solutions. We also plan to grow our bundle offering, making it easier than ever for customers to create beautiful spaces in their homes.

Whether you’ve purchased from us, shared a kind word, or followed our journey on social media, I truly appreciate it. Your support has made this dream possible, and I’m so excited to continue growing, creating, and expanding Nuco Home in the months and years to come.
